Things to do in Lynchburg, VA

Travel medical professionals to the rescue

Centra Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, will be happy to see you. They’ve recently posted dozens of positions to focus on patient care while staff trains on new technology. (Which positions? We’re glad you asked: ICU, PCU, Med. Surg., MICU, SICU, Neuro, CVICU and Oncology. You can search these positions or apply directly below.) As travelers take on the city, we thought you might like quick reference to a few things to do while you’re in town (in addition to making some new travel buddies).

Be Free (and pay nothing) in Nature

Appalachian National Scenic Trail: This is a nicely maintained trail with mostly moderate grades—great for those of you new to hiking or if you just feel like taking it easy.

Devil’s Marbleyard: Like steep inclines? Devil’s Marbleyard is for you! It’s about a 45-minute hike to the top, which provides beautiful views and a great place to explore for a bit.

Flat Top Trail: This trail is more strenuous than most. It’s peaks at 4,001 feet and is covered in scattered rock outcrops. Although, after making the 4.4-mile stretch, you can relax a little at the Otter Picnic Area.

New call-to-action

Do Something Fun

Craft Beer Cellar: There are several great craft brewhouses to choose from in Lynchburg, and this one hosts “Beer 101” every Wednesday night, exploring a new beer-related topic each week along with a sample.

Lynchburg Salsa: Get your salsa dance on Thursday nights! Lessons begin at 8 p.m. which leads into social dancing from 9 p.m.–11 p.m. This family-friendly dance space does not serve alcohol.

Go Shopping

Buzzards Roost: This antique shop, nested in downtown’s historic district, has early-American antiques of all type in addition to great random finds they pick up at estate sales and other places.

Adorn: This local shop has been around for the past 14 years, offering visitors amazing fashion at an affordable price.
