New Year's Resolution for Travelers

It’s estimated that about 44% of people make new year’s resolutions for themselves but about 8% of them actually achieve them. It’s natural to fall outside of this group, the majority of us are on the same page, but why do we not get to cross our new year’s resolutions off the list come December 31st? Maybe these goal are a bit too specific or slightly out of our reach. Here’s a list of new year’s resolutions that are attainable for travelers while on the go.

Get Your Heart Rate Up

This type of new year’s resolution is normally on your list as “Lose 50 pounds” or “Train for marathon”. A fantastic goal when achieved but why start so large? There is nothing like a little bit of physical exercise to help keep your body in shape and boost your morale. Start with the basics such as, daily walks and slowly progress to a jog or run. Or maybe you want to try a new active hobby with every new assignment! A few spin classes a week or a hike on the weekend is a great way to commit to taking care of you without feeling like the normal boring workout.

Network! Network! Network!

If 2021 has taught us anything, it’s that human beings are social beings. With quarantines still going on across the U.S and social distancing becoming our new norm, it is important to appreciate the quality in person time we can get with coworkers while on assignment. Not only is this a great way to strengthen your career path, but you may find a new friend or two that you can visit once this pandemic is over.

Make Time for You!

Is your glass half full or half empty? If it’s half empty, then how can you help others? Your happiness and mental health is the most important initiative for the year. Instead of running on autopilot from morning routine, work, night routine (or that backwards if you work night shift), try adding in a little staycation or day trip to a new city. There are plenty of little things you can do to take care of yourself without breaking the bank and staying safe.

New Year’s Resolutions should not add more stress to your life! The goal of a new year’s resolution is to empower yourself to make a change in your normal lifestyle.
