The Secret Sauce of LRS and the Future of Staffing

The past 4+ years I’ve had the privilege of working with an incredible team at LRS Healthcare. My energy has been devoted to doing what I can to help build an agency focused on providing the best experience possible for the healthcare clients and caregivers who work with us. I am frequently asked what has contributed to LRS achieving the level of success we have seen and people are especially interested in how we have done this in such a short time period.

Regardless of who is asking, my answer always comes back to the same fundamental theme: our success is rooted in the people we have and the people we serve, along with our willingness to be situationally adaptable.

LRS Healthcare is built on a foundation leading in a way that allows everyone we encounter to be the most successful version of themselves. How does this basic foundational principle provide a roadmap for success, and how does it fit into the future of staffing? The simple answer is that it is all about the people. Everything we do on a daily basis is focused on how we enhance the experience for our people, in even the smallest of ways.

Our corporate employees at LRS are inspiring to me. Each person who works for LRS is deeply rooted in doing the right thing for every person they encounter, whether it be our caregivers or our client facilities. These motivational drivers each person possesses result in a powerful team of humans who are willing to go the extra mile to do what is necessary for everyone they come in contact with. From application to accepting the job offer, our Recruiting team makes sure our healthcare travelers are cared for at every step of the process. Our Client Management team focuses on hospital and facility needs as if they were our own. Our Talent, Engagement, Marketing, and HR teams put such a focus on supporting the humans involved in every touchpoint of the recruiting process. They project the confidence needed to show up in each situation with the best version of ones’ self.

The Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Technology teams go out of their way at a moment’s notice to drop whatever they are doing to help anyone who asks, has a request, or needs help troubleshooting. All of these qualities combined are what create such a powerful momentum and energy at LRS Healthcare. I truly believe that with collective trust we’re stronger as a whole and with each individual embracing our core values, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. I’ve never seen a group of people so intently focused on the experience of the people they encounter and making sure everyone around them is cared for.

It’s necessary to evolve as a company, but change is not easy. The group of corporate employees at LRS Healthcare have spearheaded significant change in the past few years and have embraced the challenges knowing the long-term benefits will be worth it.

In addition to facing the underlying challenges of putting caregivers and facilities first and a fluctuating market that is as unpredictable as it has ever been, we have moved forward with strategic initiatives that have an end result of allowing every caregiver to do what they do best: Care for patients. I’m inspired every day when I think about the group of almost 500 corporate employees who have learned new technology platforms, implemented new processes, and fought to gain market share all while keeping direct sight on the ultimate goal of taking care of those we serve.

In 2022, we are in the midst of a generational market shift away from a focus on gaining customers to a focus on attracting and retaining talent.

Each year, Bullhorn surveys the staffing industry to identify the top trends in the market and for the first time in 2022, none of the top three items from their survey included any mention of the customer. The 2022 results were focused on Candidate Acquisition, Digital Transformation, and the Candidate Experience. Personally, I couldn’t agree more with these items and our team at LRS is hyper-focused on each category.

As the staffing industry continues to progress and evolve, every company is or should be focused on how they are improving their tech stack to increase automation and efficiency internally, so that their caregivers feel a true convenience in working with them. The future of staffing is fluid, but ultimately will be focused on making sure the healthcare providers are the focal point, and doing what’s necessary to retain staff and improve the current staffing shortages.

At LRS Healthcare, we intentionally put our travelers and their needs first. We do this through technology innovation and finding the right people who understand the primary responsibility they hold (regardless of their title or position) is to focus on improving the caregiver experience.

It’s humbling knowing as a company we’re doing what we can to make a positive impact in every stage and facet of the healthcare industry. While I’m inspired by our internal employees daily, I am truly in awe of what our caregivers do for patients in need at our amazing healthcare facilities. The healthcare travelers we employ throughout the staffing industry are some of the most qualified, talented, and adaptable individuals I’ve encountered, and the least our team can do to support them is to utilize innovation to simplify their job and job search experience.

Over the next few years, we will work tirelessly to improve our technology and processes to increase the satisfaction in the experience for everyone we encounter.

I’m confident in our team and their ability to challenge the status quo, and evolve, lead, and champion new technology and processes with the ultimate end result of ensuring the most efficient and positive candidate experience out there.

Personally, I believe in something Richard Branson was quoted saying years ago, “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.”

As the staffing industry continues to transform, I do not believe anything else can be more descriptive of the challenges we face and how we will attack them. It is my commitment and what drives me to know that at LRS we will take care of our internal employees, our internal employees will take care of our traveling caregivers, and our caregivers will take care of the patients in their care and provide relief to healthcare facilities nationwide.
